Vintage Framed Pastel on Paper Titled "Empty House" by Virginia McNeice, Circa 1990. Nestled within a verdant landscape, the home is rendered in soft tones of blue, lilac, and cream. What looks to be a garage on the right, remains open, as of the home has been left abandoned. Signed in pencil on the lower right of the work, “McNeice 90.”
Labeled on the verso noting the artist, title and medium, “Virginia McNeice Empty House Pastel.” Exhibited by the Norman S. Rice Gallery and The Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany, NY.
Born in New York City, Virginia McNeice attended Pratt Institute of Art and studied at the Art Student’s League, SUNY Albany, Skidmore College and the Vermont Studio Center. She was a prolific and regionally-renowned landscape artist who drew inspiration from the natural beauty of the countryside and the effects of light at various times of the day. Her work is in private collections, regional galleries, local hospitals and businesses.
CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. Minimal wear to gold frame. One light pastel line along the lower right of the mat, likely from original production of the work.
