Vintage Reversible Acrylic on Board Still-Life Painting, Signed Mary Sweer, Circa 1960s. The finished work is rendered in largely muted natural tones, depicting a banjo atop a table surrounded by a bowl of fruit, pottery pitcher, and various other items. The reverse, we can assume, was an earlier work that the artist deemed unsatisfactory. On this side, she added a large white “X” accompanied by her signature and “#2.” This still-life is rendered largely in cool tones with hits of red and burgundy, showing a grouping of ceramics with a draped fabric backdrop. Housed in a minimal honey-brown wood frame, this work can be presented with either side as the face. Signed Mary Sweer.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal wear. A couple small areas of paint loss as detailed in images. The wood frame presents a few areas of abrasion and finish variation.
