Vintage Shell-Encrusted Memory Bottle, Circa 1950s-60s. Shells including Coquina and Cockle are mounted to the entire surface of this glass bottle within a plaster-like coating. Memory bottles were often constructed from found objects and many times painted, but the simplicity and use of natural shells here is striking. Unsigned, artist unknown.
Presented as part of our “Nameless Art + Design” Show collection, January 2025.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal surface wear and variation. Areas of plaster discoloration and a couple small losses concentrated to the bottom edge as detailed in images.
