Vintage Folk Art Ship Diorama Bottle Whimsy, Circa 1940s

Vintage Folk Art Ship Diorama Bottle Whimsy, Circa 1940s
Vintage Folk Art Ship Diorama Bottle Whimsy, Circa 1940s. Housed in a one-quart glass liquor bottle with cork stopper, seven ships float in a harbor with buildings along a hillside. The detail within this piece is striking, from the hand-drawn flags, to the sprays of cotton billowing from the smokestacks, and the architectural details of each structure. “SC” is drawn on one of the ship’s sails leading us to believe this piece may be from South Carolina, or it’s possible these were the artist’s initials. Complete with its own (modern) display stand. Artist unknown.
Presented as part of our “Nameless Art + Design” Show collection, January 2025.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Minimal interior glass fogging as detailed in images.
