Antique Inlaid Wood Stella Bowl Back Mandolin with Butterfly Motif and Alligatored Finish, Circa 1920s. The body is beautifully constructed with various inlay designs along the surface. Incorporated at the base of the sound hole is a central cartouche featuring a butterfly between two stars on a black ground. The wonderfully alligatored finish on the wood was achieved over time after extended storage in a space with fluctuating temperatures. Best employed as a decorative element in a space rather than a functional instrument. Retains original “Stella” maker label inside the body of the instrument (seen through the sound hole).
Condition: Great antique condition, minor breaks to the inlay and body throughout with a few raised spots in the inlay (as pictured).
