Vintage Folk Art Handcrafted Steamboat Model, Circa 1940s

Vintage Folk Art Handcrafted Steamboat Model, Circa 1940s

$1,198.00

Vintage Folk Art Handcrafted Steamboat Model, Circa 1940s. Modeled after a steam-powered, double-decker ferry or steamboat, this hand-built wood structure is equipped with three smokestacks behind the pilot house. The maker’s attention to detail is present throughout the elements of the ship: glass windows, full railings, portholes and staircases connecting each level. Originally, the helm would have articulated the rudder (no longer present) at the back of the ship. Partially re-painted later in life, the white-painted uppers stand out against the black flooring, maroon hull and gray painted ship stand. Artist unknown.

Presented as part of our “Nameless Art + Design” Show collection, January 2025.

Condition: Great vintage condition. Small areas of loss and surface paint variation. This piece was repainted white in areas, later in its life. A couple small repairs, losses and cracks as detailed in images.

Specs: 38 1/8 " L | 9 1/2" D | 19 5/8" H Displayed on Stand

Due to the scale and fragility of the boat, this piece is available for local delivery and pick-up within the NYC area. For Shipping Inquiries, please reach out to :info@portmanteaunewyork.com
