Vintage Folk Art Handcrafted Steamboat Model, Circa 1940s

Vintage Folk Art Handcrafted Steamboat Model, Circa 1940s
Vintage Folk Art Handcrafted Steamboat Model, Circa 1940s. Modeled after a steam-powered, double-decker ferry or steamboat, this hand-built wood structure is equipped with three smokestacks behind the pilot house. The maker’s attention to detail is present throughout the elements of the ship: glass windows, full railings, portholes and staircases connecting each level. Originally, the helm would have articulated the rudder (no longer present) at the back of the ship. Partially re-painted later in life, the white-painted uppers stand out against the black flooring, maroon hull and gray painted ship stand. Artist unknown.
Presented as part of our “Nameless Art + Design” Show collection, January 2025.
