Vintage Sears Fall/Winter 1983 Catalog Folk Art Sculpture. Clever use of ephemeral material by folding individual pages of a catalog to create a graphic, conical sculpture. Unsigned.
Condition: Good vintage condition, shows signs of wear along folded edges with creasing, light tears and losses commensurate with age and use, does not detract from or affect stability of the piece (as pictured).

GOLDEN VENTURES FOLK ART SCULPTURE
Golden Ventures Folk Art Sculpture, Circa 1990s. A unique form of folk art originating with the ingenuity of undocumented Chinese passengers of the Golden Ventures ship that ran aground in New York in 1993. This origami style, also known as Zhe Zhi, incorporates multiple small folded triangle pieces that are stacked to create sculptural items. Refugees created similar pieces over a four year period while detained in Pennsylvania seeking asylum. This technique serves as a testament to the prevailing powers of the creative will in the midst of adversity and uncertainty.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with light areas of surface wear as pictured.
