Antique Black-Painted Pine Windsor Side Chairs, A Pair, Circa Mid-19th Century. This well-proportioned pair features comb-backs and splayed legs with small incised band accents across the legs and seat surface. Wedge joints were used the attach the backrests to each seat. Painted black later in life, evidenced by the underside of the seats with areas of earlier deep brown stain. Unsigned.

Condition: Great antique condition, with surface wear commensurate with age and use. Area of surface abrasion as detailed in images. One chair has some movement between the joints, but still structurally sound. Best as accent chairs. Black paint applied later in life.
