Vintage "Adonis" Male Physique Beefcake Magazine, May 1957. Cover features well-defined model in front a jetty, dressed only in a speedo at the beach. 25 cents when originally purchased, these are now quite rare to find in this condition.

Beefcake magazines presented as dedicated to fitness, health, and bodybuilding. However, their unstated primary purpose was erotic imagery, for gay and bisexual men and straight women, skirting mid-20th-century censorship laws which prohibited depiction of full nudity, and cultural taboos against homosexuality.
