Vintage Postmodern Kinetic Sculptural Bamboo, Laminated Wood and Bronze Lamp by Marylena Corrado, Circa 1990s-2000s. An excellent example of postmodern design, this lamp features a sculptural cast bronze counterweight attached to a slatted bamboo column that is able to pivot back and forth (similar to the motion of a metronome). The base is an arch of laminated wood that has been stained red. Signed “Marylena Corrado” on the underside of the base. Brass perforated detailing on sides of the light bulb. Compatible with a Halogen Bulb.
About the Artist:
“Marylena is a student and a teacher, a woodworker and a sculptor, a project manager and a permaculturist, an Advanced NH Master Gardener and a reformed disgruntled office worker. It isn’t this diversity that makes her distinctive; it’s how comfortable she is dwelling in the edges, where dichotomies converge. She has a BFA from RISD, where she studied Interior Architecture and Furniture Design, and a MFA in Artisanry from UMass Dartmouth.”
Condition: Great vintage condition. Minimal wear to the body as shown in photos.
