Vintage Folk Art Matchstick Lamps With Chevron Detail, A Pair, Circa 1940s
Vintage Folk Art Matchstick Lamps With Chevron Detail, A Pair, Circa 1940s. A rare find in matchstick tramp art, this geometric pair of lamps are hand-crafted repurposing burnt matchsticks. The maker arranged the material along a rectangular body, creating a two-tone chevron affect on each side, raised on a plinth base with four feet - faced in matches. Possibly prison art as this was a popular pastime for inmates, often presented as gifts to loved ones, guards or sold. Signed Millie Ann Horton on the base of each lamp.
Sold as a pair with shades.
