Rare mid-century J.V. Orel "Lion" wooden figurine from the "Zoo Line" collection, produced exclusively in Japan by Swank circa 1950s-1960s. Lion’s mane and bushy tail constructed of real fur with jute tail. Clever stash box in the back of the lion with a slot in the head for a pencil or branch.
Stamped “Copyright JV Orel” on base with gold “Swank Exclusive Japan” sticker.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Light dings to the wood, wear + patina consistent with age and use.
