Vintage Oil on Board Festival Painting by Richard Stalter, Circa 1960s
Vintage Oil on Board Festival Painting by Richard Stalter, Circa 1960s. The subject of this striking work is an outdoor festival at dusk where blue, red and cream striped tents can be seen in the distance. Rendered largely in shades of muted green and dusty blue within the sky. Heavy impasto has been used in areas where light escapes the tents, lending a sense of movement. Four figures can been seen walking into the scene, drawing the viewer in as part of the event. Framed in an olive painted wood frame with cream linen liner. Signed, “Stalter,” in the lower right.
Richard Stalter was born in Dayton, OH April 27, 1934. in 1964, he moved to Gaylordsville, CT to study with impressionist master Bernard Lennon. That same year he began participating in the NYC Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit and the Mystic CT Outdoor Art Festival. Throughout the years, he won many prizes and participated in group shows throughout the Northeast.
Condition: Great vintage condition, with minimal surface wear. The frame and liner show signs of wear with a couple abrasions to frame, and light staining to linen liner as detailed in images. The painting is in excellent condition with no flaws to note.
