Antique Hand-Woven Butt Basket, Circa Mid 19th Century. Originating in Europe, this traditional woven basket style traveled with colonists to North America. Beautifully constructed from thin strips of wood (likely ash), with a curved handle that runs through the body offering support to the structure. These utilitarian objects were created to be used and their survival stands as a testament to their quality. Unsigned.
Condition: Good antique condition. This piece shows signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Areas of loss and breaks mainly concentrated to the underside of the basket as detailed in images.
