Antique Auto Repair Shop Occupational Photograph, Circa 1920s
Antique Auto Repair Shop Occupational Photograph, Circa 1920s. A lively sepia image of at least 10 men at work in an auto body shop. One figure to the right stares directly into the camera, his face illuminated begging for the viewers attention. Three vehicles are lined up ready for work, one possibly a Marmon. The raw, industrial space oozes with activity, as men in the background either pose for the shot, or continue their work on machinery. A large vice, sanding belt, a plethora of tools and buckets the read “Fire Only” can be seen around the space. Framed in a pressed wood frame resembling the texture of bamboo. Unsigned, Artist unknown.
A notation on the reverse reads “Grandfather Walter Kuczin - facing camera - working on Marmon? Somewhere in Boston, Mass. 1920s?”
Presented as part of our “Nameless Art + Design” Show collection, January 2025.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal surface wear and light finish variation concentrated to the carved wood frame. The photograph itself is in pristine condition.
