Vintage Thonet Style Model 233 Bentwood Armchair, Produced by Artex, Made in Hungary, Circa 1930s. Deep walnut-stained bentwood frame with a well-worn, tonal, honey colored wood seat. In the style of the Thonet Model 233, originally with a backrest and possibly a fan-back attached to the center. The simplicity of this form in its current state makes it quite alluring. Retains remnants of the original “Artex Made in Hungary” paper label on the underside of the seat.
Condition: Great vintage condition, frame shows signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Middle portion of backrest was removed later in life. Does not affect stability and adds to the appeal of the piece. As pictured.
