Vintage Parquetry Side Table with Contrast Column, Circa 1940s
Vintage Parquetry Side Table with Contrast Column, Circa 1940s. An exceptionally well-made parquetry side table from the late 1930s/40s. The large, square tabletop surface is inlaid with walnut, maple and cherry woods. The graphic design creates an optical illusion with the alternating rows of rhombuses. Framed within a trio of walnut and maple bands. The substantial, octagonal central post has a wonderfully graphic cross-hatch design throughout. It sits atop an inlaid square base and four extended disc feet. Unsigned.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, top surface has natural finish craquelure, light abrasions to the lower corners of the tabletop (as pictured)
