Antique Louis XVI-Style Giltwood Music / Vanity Chair, Circa late 19th Century. An unusual form with considered proportions, a low seat and high, slim back. The giltwood frame has hand-carved details throughout, newly upholstered with moss green velvet. The seat rests atop a wood base and four carved legs supported with stretchers and fitted with metal caster feet. The ovoid backrest perfectly punctuates the slim seatback. The upholstered elements are offset with self piping. Original use would have been for a musician or as part of a vanity. Unsigned.
Condition: Great antique condition, light loss to gilt surface throughout (as pictured). Newly reupholstered in moss green velvet.
