Vintage Hand-Carved Wood Folk Art Rattlesnake Sculpture, Circa 1970s. Large-scale sculpture of a rattlesnake fashioned by hand from one piece of wood. Hollowed at the center, the coiled body is complete with scales rendered in ink. Beady wood eyes, carved curled fangs, and an applied leather tongue contribute to its life-like quality. The wood is left unfinished allowing for a natural patina to occur over time with handling. A substantial example of folk art in scale and execution. Unsigned.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, shows light signs of wear commensurate with age and use (as pictured). Naturally occurring splits do not affect the stability of the piece.
