Vintage Folk Art / Found Object Stacked Receipt Sculpture, Circa 1941
Vintage Folk Art / Found Object Stacked Receipt Sculpture, Circa 1941. The mundane as art. A stack of in-house receipts recording customer orders spiked along a curled hanging wire, dating back to January through April 1941. Mercantile receipt paper was produced for and notes “H.E. DeWitt Dealer in Lumber, Sash, Doors and Blinds. Exclusive agents for Killarney Smokeless Coal.” Printed by “Mutual Press Inc. in Lynchburg, VA.” A great sculptural relic of Virginian folk art.
