Folk Art Hammered Copper Printing Plate "Candy Dish" Tray, Circa 1930s/40s. Large-scale copper dish fashioned in the shape of wrapped candy. The face of the plate is has a dashed border stamped approximately 1/2” in from the edge with what is believed to be the owner’s initials at the center of the tray. Textured on the ends/handles for grip. The reverse features a partial embossing from the copper plate’s former life as an advertisement printing plate. The animated scene from Edison Commonwealth urges consumers to purchase electrical home appliances as gifts. Beautifully patinated surface add depths and character to the piece. Unique piece of decorative folk art. Unsigned.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, shows signs of surface variation with light scratching commensurate with age and use (as pictured)
