Antique Carved Wood Doll with Scrap Fabric Clothing, Circa Early 20th Century
Antique Carved Wood Doll with Scrap Fabric Clothing, Circa Early 20th Century. Hand-carved folk art doll, with rudimentary carved features, its eyes highlighted with pencil. Dressed in make-do clothing constructed from scraps of fabric. The body is swathed in naively draped natural cotton fabric with a navy and white top, bound with miniature brass safety pin. Remnants of the brimmed wood hat remain with its natural fabric band and red fabric topper. The purpose of the medical tape on the arms is unknown. Complete with self-applied carved heeled boots. Movable arms, head and feet. Unsigned.
