Rare Large Scale Vintage Puck Building Grand Ball Commemorative Silkscreen Poster, Signed by the Artist, Peter Gee, Circa 1983. The artist designed this silk screen print for his grand ball at the Puck building. Guest list included Princess Margret. The design of the work includes a backdrop of a Puck Building Blueprint, with streamer-style stripes in pink, lavender, yellow, light blue and green in a layered style. This festive illustration commemorates the restoration of the building as well as its national historic registration that followed a few weeks after the event. Small vignettes also include a gold and rust illustration of the building’s iconic Shakespeare Puck statue, and black and white party scenes. The verbiage on the poster reads: “Puck Building Opening Exhibition & Grand Ball” and “The Puck Building 295 Lafayette St. New York April 20th. 1983 8 O’clock to Midnight”. Signed in pencil by the artist in the lower left.

Peter Gee was a British artist, graphic designer, and developer who is best known for his Pop silkscreen prints. His posters and prints were exhibited in the Word and Image show in 1968 at the Museum of Modern Art alongside works by Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana. Also known for his iconic packaging and poster designs for fashion designers such as Betsy Johnson. Later, he renovated and restored historic buildings in SoHo and Tribeca, such as the Puck Building. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan, The Smithsonian, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition. Two small areas of water marks visible at the very bottom of the white paper (barely visible). Crisp and clean print with no fading. Frame could stand to be replaced, has areas of paint loss and wear.
