Vintage Navajo Stamped Silver Hinged Box, Circa 1930s-40s. A rare find, this rectangular box is constructed from silver with traditional hand-stamped detailing along the sides and lid. Common in pre-WWII year, the same stamping motifs carried over to silver jewelry during this era as well. Crescent shaped stamps line the four walls of the body. The top of the lid incorporates a striped border with a raised oval at its center, reminiscent of other examples where stones were often applied. A latch at the front is used to keep the lid closed, with unique butterfly hinges on the rear. The box weighs 244.5 grams. Unsigned.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal wear. Natural surface patination, and very light areas of surface abrasion.
