Vintage Folk Art Carved + Painted Wood Figure Praying to Flower by Zenon Miczołek, Circa 1990s. This work depicts a winged angel cloaked in vibrant yellow, praying over a flower. Constructed from seven carved components (base, body, feet, wings and flower), the surface of the piece was then fully painted. The flower that the figure kneels before is quite striking in its simplicity. Signed on the underside of the base “Miczołek Kazimirez Paszyn 95”.

He began creating sculptures as a teenager, greatly inspired by works by his grandfather Stanisław Oleksy (1904-1988). Miczołek’s works often center around traditional representations of biblical scenes and angelic figures, while others depict domestic animals and birds.
