Antique Green Painted Tin Candle Sconces, A Pair, Circa Early 20th Century
Antique Green Painted Tin Candle Sconces, A Pair, Circa Early 20th Century
Antique Green Painted Tin Candle Sconces, A Pair, Circa Early 20th Century. Constructed from tin with rolled edges, this dramatic pair of sconces were likely designed to resemble earlier colonial examples. Traces of original green paint are visible throughout each sconce. The exaggerated backplates with circular cutouts help to reflect the flame, and increase illumination within a space (in this case, the heavy patination offers more of a warm glow). The wide well base allows for use of chunky pillar candles. Unsigned.
**Offered as a pair.
Condition: Great antique condition. Heavy surface patination with areas of original paint adds to the interest. One small make-do repair shows a small nut and bolt towards the base of the backplate cutout. One area of seam solder separation toward the base (as detailed in images). Does not affect the stability or overall look.
