Rare Vintage Joey Manic Early Model "War of The Worlds" Alien Eye Table Lamp, Circa 1990s. Joseph Boron, with products signed under the name “Joey Manic”, is an American Designer known for his works in lighting and furniture centering around Alien themes.
"THE WAR OF THE WORLDS" is a 1953 American Technicolor science fiction film from Paramount Pictures, produced by George Pal, directed by Byron Haskin, and starring Gene Barry and Ann Robinson. The film is an adaptation of the H. G. Wells novel of the same name, concerning an invasion of Earth from the planet Mars. This lamp, along with other works, were inspired by the film.
The lamp is constructed from brushed steel, a heavy silver textured base and glass. The head of the lamp holds an eye-like blue glass diffuser with embedded red glass “pupil.” The piece functions by inserting and turning a key at the base, which also activates a small red light at the base. Original key and metal key-tag stamped “Joey Manic.” The piece is also branded on the top of the head.
