Vintage Folk Art Painted Iron Tables with Splayed Legs, Circa 1950s
Vintage Folk Art Painted Iron Tables with Splayed Legs, Circa 1950s
Vintage Folk Art Painted Iron Tables with Splayed Legs, Circa 1950s. Constructed from heavy weight, likely industrial grade, steel plate, these tables are true masterpieces. Sleek lines and perfect proportions offer a delicate appearance. Each table is designed around a central cruciform body with legs that softly splay, terminating in circular steel pad feet. These forms feature circular tops and lower shelves (the white table with 2 shelves, and the chocolate with one). The surface of each shows varying levels of original paint. The chocolate is left largely unpainted with only small traces of white and red paint leaving a natural warm surface patina only achieved through years of wear and use. The white retains the majority of its original paint, showing signs of its age with general craquelure throughout the surface. The previous owner acquired these while living in Texas. Two of a series of three tables available, each with a unique design / construction variation. Unsigned.
