Portmanteau Studio Project “The Boro Chair” | Mid Century Wrought Iron Armchair, Circa 1950s
The “Boro” Chair- redesigned in-house at the Portmanteau New York Studio.
We drew inspiration from French modernist designer, Jean Prouvé’s “visiteur” armchair.
This piece is incredibly pleasing to the eye with its spindly frame + expertly finessed bends in just the right places. The armrests are sculpted in maple + hand-finished by Dan Allen of Lynchburg, Virginia to fit perfectly under the wrists. We echoed the walnut treatment to complete the chair with orb feet. The seat + backrests are newly formed + upholstered in Knoll Classic “Neutral” Boucle. The perfect accent chair.
