Antique Painted Oak Masonic Slapstick Fraternal Paddle, Circa 1st Quarter 20th Century. Oak construction with red and black surface paint. The handmade paddle is constructed with a hinged metal mechanism to create a popping sound when whacked, thus the term slapstick. Likely created as an accessory for a fraternal organization. Wonderfully patinated brass and steel components. Stamped “RS” on the end.
