Antique Leather Bound Book Form Liquor Tantalus, Circa Early 20th Century. This book box was designed to hide and store a set of four shot glasses and small lidded decanter. The body of the piece is constructed from tan leather over wood and gilt paper, with solid brass hinge details on the interior. The interior is gold embossed “Made in France.” Each of the four clear glass shot glasses is rimmed in gold. The same gilding is present on the molded clear glass body of decanter and stopper. A rare find, this piece exquisitely crafted.
The top book is a genuine book, labeled “Moliere comedies” in gold.
The bottom “books” are faux and stamped in gold “Victor Hugo Sa View Ses Oeuvres,” “Jean Richepin Miarka,” and “Sophocle tragédies.”
Condition: Excellent antique condition, a few small abrasions to leather surface and small losses to edge. All glass components are in excellent condition, no flaws. Retains original gold detailing throughout.
