Vintage Wawel Castle, Kraków Poland Souvenir Coffered Ceiling Mounted Clay Heads, Circa 1950s. Each head is replicated from the original carved heads that adorn the coffered ceiling of the “Envoys’ Hall” at Wawel Castle. There were originally 194 heads, with only 30 that have been preserved due to the castle’s tumultuous past. They depict people of different classes: from kings and soldiers to courtiers. Each molded clay head is painted white and mounted in a dark wood shadowbox frame.
Each framed piece retains its original label on the reverse that reads “Zakopianskie Warsztaty Wzorowe” with additional identifiable information.

Condition: Great vintage condition, light abrasions and wear to the wood frames with light surface wear to each cast ceramic head.
