Antique Large-Scale Framed Mountainscape Oil on Artist Board, Signed Franz Erler, Circa 1924
Antique Large-Scale Framed Mountainscape Oil on Artist Board, Signed Franz Erler, Circa 1924. Large-scale landscape painted by Austrian artist, Franz Erler (1883-1942). The piece is centered on large, imposing snow-capped mountains, revealing pockets of shadows and patches of uncovered land below the peaks. The artist masterfully creates a sense of scale by balancing the magnitude of the mountains, set aback, from the barren land at the forefront. Signed and dated, “Franz Erler 1924,” by the artist in the lower right corner of the artwork. Labeled “Goldblatt” in pencil on back of frame.
Condition: Excellent antique condition, artwork shows minimal signs of wear with some very light loss to the painted surface. Frame shows signs of wear and loss to gesso (as pictured).
