Vintage Sapphire Blue Guilloché Enamel + Sterling Silver Shoehorn by Asprey London for Saks New York, Circa 1928. Art Deco era shoe horn with a fantastic radial, op art design engraved under sapphire blue enamel. The horn portion is made of steel, marked “English Steel Make” towards the center, and the handle is sterling silver. “Asprey London” engraved on one side of the handle, on the other side “A & Co,” “Saks New York.” Along with British sterling silver hallmarks: anchor, lion passant and D noting it was assayed in Birmingham and produced in 1928. The guilloché enamel is beautifully rendered on both sides of the handle.
Asprey, a British Luxury brand established in 1871, began offering its wares at Saks Fifth Avenue in 1927.
Condition: Great vintage condition, presents finish surface variation and light wear commensurate with age and use. Minor loss to enamel towards the base of the handle from use (as pictured).
