Vintage Modernist Hammered Mixed Metals Silver-tone + Brass Necklace by Joseph Boris, Circa 1983.
Boris created wearable art pieces between the 1970s and 1990's, often inspired by the nature surrounding him in the Big Island of Hawaii. Each piece is hand-forged and therefore completely unique. This necklace incorporates 5 soft triangular plates, each split down the center alternating between gold and silver tones. Each plate is then riveted to the next and attached to an elongated brass link chain. Signed on the reverse of the central plate, dated 1983.
Joseph Boris was born in 1940 in Yugoslavia and has also lived in Argentina and California. Previously a research chemist for a major company, he decided to devote all of his time to art. He is known for designing jewelry and metal craft pieces of various metals inspired by the ocean, volcanoes, and organic shapes found in nature.
